The Home Energy Scotland (HES) rural uplift is an additional £1,500 on the HES heat pump grant only for properties in rural or island locations in Scotland. The loan stays at £7,500 (no uplift on the loan). This means rural homeowners can access: £9,000 grant (£7,500 + £1,500 uplift) + £7,500 loan (no uplift) = £16,500 total. No — the HES rural uplift currently applies to heat pump installation only. The HES solar PV grant (including any rural element) stopped in June 2024. No — the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) in England and Wales does not offer any rural uplift. Every eligible property gets the same £7,500 grant regardless of location. Croft houses and farmhouses can be eligible for the HES rural uplift if they are used as a primary residence and meet the property eligibility criteria.
