No, replacing a faulty or end-of-life inverter does not affect your Feed-in Tariff payments. Your FiT contract is linked to your solar panel installation, not the inverter. However, it is important that the replacement is carried out by an MCS-certified installer (which we are) and that the generation meter is reconfigured correctly. We handle all of this as part of every inverter replacement.

If you are upgrading from a string to a hybrid inverter, or if additional wiring work is needed, it may take 3 to 5 hours. Inverter replacement on an existing system is not typically covered by grant funding. The Home Energy Scotland (HES) solar panel grant stopped accepting new applications in June 2024. However, if you are upgrading to a hybrid inverter and adding battery storage as part of a wider energy efficiency improvement, there may be financing options available. The 0% VAT rate on solar and battery installations applies until March 2027, which includes hybrid inverter upgrades when combined with battery storage.
