Let us know the type of property and roughly when it was built. A 1930s semi with a tiled roof, a Victorian sandstone villa with natural slate, a harled bungalow in the Highlands and a top-floor tenement flat all raise different questions. For flats and tenements, shared roofs usually need agreement from the other owners, so it helps to mention this early. If you are in a conservation area or your home is listed, tell us, as planning rules are stricter.

Knowing your goal lets us suggest the right mix. A recent electricity bill showing your annual usage is the single most useful thing to have to hand, as it lets us size a system to your home rather than guessing.

Your postcode tells us which network operator looks after your local grid: SP Energy Networks across Central and Southern Scotland, or SSEN in the North, the Highlands and the islands. We handle the application for whichever covers your home.
