Our commitment
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
Measures we take
Accessibility is built into our design and development process, not bolted on afterwards. The following measures are in place across the site:
Keyboard navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms, and menus — are reachable by keyboard alone. Visible focus indicators show where you are on the page at all times.
Colour contrast
We maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, meeting WCAG AA requirements across all pages.
Reduced motion
All animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. If your system is set to reduce motion, animations are effectively disabled.
Screen readers
Interactive elements carry ARIA labels where needed. All images include descriptive alt text. We test with common screen readers to ensure a coherent reading experience.
Semantic HTML
We use a proper heading hierarchy (h1–h6), landmark regions (nav, main, footer), and correctly labelled form controls so assistive technology can parse every page reliably.
Responsive design
The site is fully usable on all screen sizes from 320 px upwards. Text reflows without horizontal scrolling, and touch targets meet minimum size guidelines.
Known limitations
Some older pages may not fully meet all criteria. We are working to improve these and will update this statement as progress is made. If you encounter a barrier on any page, please let us know using the contact details below.

If you find any part of this website difficult to use, we want to hear about it. Please get in touch and we’ll do our best to fix the issue promptly.
Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The EHRC is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Accessible surveys and installations
Accessibility matters beyond this website. If you or someone in your household has a disability, a health condition or simply prefers a particular way of communicating, tell us when you get in touch and we will adapt how we work. We can talk everything through by phone instead of online forms, send quotes and documents in larger print or as plain text, and allow extra time during the home survey.
During a survey we need to look at your roof, loft, consumer unit and meter. If access to parts of the home is difficult, or if you need someone else present, let us know beforehand so the visit can be planned around you. Installers working through our MCS-certified partners can explain where equipment such as an inverter, battery or heat pump controls will go, so switches and displays stay within easy reach.
Many people across Scotland, from Glasgow tenements to remote Highland and island homes, live with long, dark winters and rely on heating to stay well. If warmth is a health need in your home, please mention it, as it can affect which options are suitable and the timing of any heating work. We install through MCS-certified partners.
